Abstract:
To reduce their fresh water consumption, Wuhan Iron and Steel (Group) Corporation has attempted to reclaim its mixed treated wastewater. Due to the high conductivity, a integrated ultrafiltration/reverse osmosis (UF/RO) system was built. The influence of effluent water quality on the UF membrane flux, trans-membrane pressure and cross-flow velocity was investigated. The backwashing period was determined. the pollution situation of UF was analyzed. After advanced treatment by the UF/RO process, the conductivity of producing water was reduced to 20 μs/cm and the average desalinization ratio reached to 96.9%.
