Abstract:
In this work, we studied the polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) and polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) membrane wetting in sodium dodecyl benzene sulfonate (SDBS) solution by measuring the membrane gain weight over wetting time. We considered the influencing factors of the membrane material, concentration of SDBS and temperature. The experimental results indicate that, PTFE membrane wetting rate is much lower than that of PVDF membrane; increasing the solution concentration or rising temperature could accelerate the membrane invasion. Based on capillary imbibitions mechanism and membrane pores distribution, we put forward a membrane wetting theory equation about wetting ratio and time, and simulated successfully the PVDF membrane wetting results by this equation.
