Thermally on-off switching separation membranes: grafting poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) on separation membranes

Abstract:
 Separation membranes, as functional materials, are applied to concentration, separation, refinement, etc. However, due to the limitation from the properties of component materials, separation membranes are vulnerable to be polluted and short-life. Recently, researches have fund that grafting poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAAm)  on separation membranes directly, can confer hydrophily and pollution resistance on them. At the same time, owning to the thermosensitivity of PNIPAAm, the grafted separation membranes become thermally on-off switching separation membranes. This paper presents recent researches on them.
