Abstract:
An integrated aerobic membrane bioreactor (MBR) was operated. The effect of increasing salinity (0%-6%) on the treatment of high ammonia nitrogen wastewater and its membrane fouling and microbial community change in MBR were explored. The results showed that the ammonia removal rate and ammonia oxidation rate decreased with increasing in the salinity, but a reverse trend was observed for the content of extracellular polymer in membrane fouling, the transmembrane pressure difference and the membrane fouling rate. The results from high throughput sequencing demonstrated that the microbial community in MBR was the most stable at salinity of 0.5%, whereas high salinity might lead to decrease in the diversity of microbial community.
