Abstract:
A major factor limiting the use of Poly (vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) ultrafiltration (UF) membrane of wastewater treatment is membrane fouling by Effluent Organic Matter (EfOM). An understanding of the fouling behavior of EfOM is needed to provide a basis for modification of PVDF UF membrane. In this work, PVDF membranes with adding different amount of SiO2 were modified via non-solvent phase induce separation method. The paper investigated the fouling behavior of the prepared membranes with adding different amount of SiO2 in secondary effluent organic matter, and the interaction between colloidal pollutants and membrane and pollutants’ were analyzed with self-made atomic force probe. This paper shows that the further analysis of the EfOM-membrane force curve can provide useful means of evaluating the anti-fouling ability of the modified membrane.
