Preparation and Performance Characterization of the Polyvinylidene Fluoride (PVDF) Recycled Membranes

Abstract:
 The influence of the doping amount of the polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) extractive from waste flat membranes of domestic swage and electroplating wastewater membrane bioreactor (MBR) engineering into the casting solutions on the structure and performance of the recycled PVDF flat membranes has been investigated in this paper. According to the experiment results, the viscosity of the casting solutions doping 33% PVDF extractive were similar with that of the new membrane casting solution. The viscosity of the casting solutions with 75% PVDF extractive doping amount decreased and the corresponding DS-75 and ME-75 recycled membranes exhibited relatively incompact cortexes compared with the new membrane,the DS-33 and the ME-33 recycled membranes. The water contact angles of the new membrane and the recycled membranes were very similar and the membrane surfaces were all hydrophilic. The performance of the membranes were tested in a small experimental MBR and the COD and NH3-N concentrations in the effluent of the four recycled membranes were almost the same with that of the new membrane. Moreover, the turbidity of the effluent of the membranes were all lower than 1 NTU.
