Compare study on different membrane materials to refined Chinese herbal compound of Gubi granules

Abstract:
 In this work, the refining effects of different membrane materials on the various components of Chinese herbal compound were studied. GuBi granules, a traditional Chinese prescription which consist of eight kinds of herbs, was chosen as a model, and the yield of micro-molecules such as active ingredients, invalid polymer component and solids transmittance that can be measured from the refined process of different membrances were determined to evaluate the refining efficiency. Meanwhile, the methods of high performance liquid chromatography and ultraviolet spectrophotometry were used. The results showed that compared with PES flat membrane and PES hollow fiber membranes, 0.2μm ceramic membranes possess better transmission rate for micro-molecules and high retention rate for macromolecules such as starch, pectin, tannin etc. and had best control to solid content of Chinese medicine. Further experiment was done for comparing 0.2μm ceramic membrane refining technology with water extract ethanol precipitation process, and the results showed the former had the better control of solid content in Chinese medicine.
